Reinvest North County Fund at the Community Foundation
Leaders of the Regional Business Council (RBC) and North County Incorporated (NCI) recently announced their decision to move the Reinvest North County Fund to the St. Louis Community Foundation in 2015. The fund, which was created last summer in the wake of the civil unrest that unfolded in the North County region, is designed to lend assistance to small businesses and schools in the areas affected.
“The Fund has grown beyond our expectations,” said Kathy Osborn, executive director of the RBC. “Having the St. Louis Community Foundation provide administrative support for the Reinvest North County Fund will allow us to focus our efforts on supporting the small businesses and schools.”
Since its creation last summer, the fund has already raised $600,000 and donations are still being accepted.
It’s time for the Fund to evolve and be positioned as a catalyst for long-term change in the community we serve,” said Rebecca Zoll, president and CEO of North County Inc. “The Community Foundation will be an integral part of this process.”
The Reinvest North County Fund will complement the St. Louis Gives initiative, which was announced by the Community Foundation late last year. St. Louis Gives is intended to lend support to innovative and creative nonprofit initiatives and solutions that address many of the systemic regional issues brought to the fore by last summer’s events.
“Our region can’t revert to ‘business as usual,’” said Amelia Bond, president and CEO of the Community Foundation. “Instead, we must come together and explore new ways to tackle the problems confronting us today. We look forward to working with outstanding organizations like the Regional Business Council and North County Incorporated to promote and participate in the community dialogue that is currently underway.”
