U.S. Census Continues to Make Operational Adjustments due to COVID-19

As a partner of the St. Louis Regional Census Fund, the St. Louis Community Foundation is making it a priority to keep the St. Louis community up to date on all 2020 Census news during COVID-19.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the U.S. Census Bureau is adjusting 2020 Census operations in order to:

  • Protect the health and safety of the American public and Census Bureau employees.
  • Implement guidance from Federal, State, and local authorities regarding COVID-19.
  • Ensure a complete and accurate count of all communities.

On April 13, the U.S. Census Bureau announced that they would further delay their field operations until June and would extend collection through October 31st. They are also asking Congress to extend the timeline for delivering apportionment counts to the President from December 31, 2020 to April 30, 2021.

In the midst of the pandemic and with the U.S. Census making operational adjustments, we still want to remind everyone that it is still extremely important to respond in order for everyone to be counted in St. Louis and Missouri overall. Please talk to your family, neighbors and broader networks to make sure everyone understands the value of responding. To respond online visit www.2020census.gov. Beginning this month, a hard copy that can be mailed in has also been made available for households who may have limited internet access.
