Social media and donor networking tips abounded at nine Give STL Day nonprofit training sessions. The classes were organized and hosted by the Community Foundation as it continues to drum up nonprofit support for Give STL Day, which will be held on May 5.
“We’re thrilled with the enthusiasm and excitement that is already building for Give STL Day,” reported Mary McMurtrey, director of community engagement for the Community Foundation and host of each of the training sessions.
In addition to providing a forum for nonprofits to share ideas, the training sessions offered a basic primer to help the organizations initiate and build their social media presence.“ Last year, we saw first hand how visibility on Facebook and Twitter can generate awareness and enthusiasm for Give STL Day for nonprofits and their donors,” said McMurtrey. “In fact, our results demonstrated social media was a significant driver of donations, and leveraging it was – and will be – a critical component of our success.”
For those nonprofits unable to attend, the Community Foundation has posted a training session video on the “Resources” page of GiveSTLday.org.
McMurtrey also added that nonprofits must register for this year’s Give STL Day at GiveSTLDay.org by April 10 – even if they participated last year. “It’s essential that nonprofits get online and sign up! It’s easy – just visit GiveSTLDay.org!”
