The Chronicle of Philanthropy recently featured an article on Come Together Ferguson, a component fund of the St. Louis Community Foundation. The initial donors, who prefer to remain anonymous, weren’t certain exactly what help Ferguson needed when they launched the fund in 2014, but they had an idea: They wanted the people of Ferguson to help them decide where their community most needed help.
The Community Foundation put together a committee, comprised of people of different ages, races, and professions, all with ties to Ferguson, to guide the grant-making process. In its first round of grantmaking, the committee considered more than forty applications, and unanimously selected 11 organizations to receive nearly $39,000.
Light a Single Candle Foundation has made an additional $10,000 donation to the fund to continue its work. If you would like to make a donation to Come Together Ferguson, please click on the donate button below.
